Prof.Dr. Yumuşhan GÜNAY

Prof. Dr. Yumuşhan GÜNAY was born in Hatay in 1954. He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry as a military student in 1978. He received military medicine training at Ankara GATA between 1978-1979. Between 1979-1981, he worked as a dentist in the General Staff Flag Garrison infirmary. In 1981, he won the doctorate exam opened by the Department of Maxillofacial Prosthesis and Surgery of Çapa Faculty of Dentistry and started his doctoral study on "Comparison of Physical Properties of Materials Used in the Repair of Facial Defects" under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Nuri MUGAN and graduated in 1985. In 1985, he started to work at GATA Haydarpaşa Training Hospital and worked as assistant professor, associate professor and professor in the same center until 2013. For the last 5 years, he served as the Head of the Center of Dentistry. Between the same periods, he taught Jaw and Facial Prosthesis courses as a guest lecturer at Çapa Faculty of Dentistry. Nowadays, he is working as a Professor at Üsküdar University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Prosthodontics. She is also the Dean of Üsküdar University Faculty of Dentistry and Head of Basic Science Department.

Yumuşhan GÜNAY focused on the following topics during this academic process:
1. Repair of facial defects that cannot be repaired with Plastic Surgery Methods by prosthetic methods
2. Repair of upper and lower jaw defects with prosthetic methods
3. Interdisciplinary collaborations in supportive applications in surgical repair of maxillofacial defects 
4. Implant applications in defect treatments
5. CAD/CAM designs for jaw and facial defects 
6. Invasive treatments of jaw joint disorders 
7. He focused on nutrition and pre-surgical adjustment appliances for newborns with cleft lip and palate.
