What is Invisalign Treatment?

Invisalign treatment is an orthodontic treatment that straightens teeth without using metal braces. It is a wire-free orthodontic treatment method applied to improve tooth alignment with the help of custom-made transparent aligners. The fact that the procedure is applied without the use of metal braces is the most common reason for choosing this treatment. It is a personalized treatment method performed by expert dentists in their field.

Much more comfortable than traditional metal brackets, transparent aligners aim to provide the person with a beautiful smile in addition to correcting the teeth.

How is Invisalign Treatment Performed?

In Invisalign treatment, the patient's measurements are taken first. Afterwards, special aligners are produced in 3D from the taken measurements using computer-aided programs. The number of aligners required for the treatment and the duration of the treatment are determined. The aligners prepared suitably for the patients' mouths are applied to remain in the mouth every 15 days.

During the replacement times, the development of the teeth and how they respond to the treatment are monitored. The aligners can be removed only during eating and drinking. In Invisalign treatment, patients are freer and more comfortable compared to dental braces, but it is important for the aligners to remain on the teeth throughout the day to achieve an effective result from the treatment.

What are the Features of Invisalign Treatment?

Transparent aligners are easy to clean, put on, and take off, and they do not make patients' daily lives difficult. In addition to these, the features of Invisalign treatment can be listed as follows:

  • Transparent aligners are not noticeable and remain invisible in the mouth
  • No metal brackets are used and it does not hinder daily life
  • It is more painless and more comfortable compared to traditional wire treatment
  • It can be removed during meals and put back on afterwards
  • On special occasions (weddings, graduations, business meetings, etc.), you can remove your aligners and take a break from the treatment for a few hours
  • Invisalign (transparent aligner treatment) can be applied to both children and adults

Does Invisalign Treatment Take a Long Time?

Invisalign treatment can be completed in a shorter time compared to metal wire treatment. The total treatment duration may vary depending on the disorders in the teeth. While the treatments of some people using Invisalign can end in 6 months, this duration can also extend up to a few years. Some of the conditions that can affect the treatment duration are as follows:

  • If the patient's age is young, his teeth straighten and align faster, but if his age is older, the duration of this treatment takes longer compared to normal
  • If the width of the spaces between the teeth is very large, this causes the treatment to take longer
  • People with a small jaw structure may have crowding and crookedness in their teeth

How are Transparent Aligners Produced According to Tooth Movement?

The measurements taken from the patient are transferred to the computer environment using the 3D scanning method. The teeth transferred to the digital environment are moved via simulation and carried to their ideal positions. Transparent aligners are produced according to the position where the teeth are desired to move. Usually, a transition to the next aligner is made after 15 days of use.
