Technological Facilities
Usküdar University Dental Hospital serves by using the possibilities of technology. Dental treatments are performed under anesthesia and sedation in our operating room equipped with technological devices. General anesthesia or sedation is decided by the patient and his/her relatives, the dentist and the anesthesiologist together. The duration of the procedure, the depth of surgery, the patient's internal disorders and preferences are the factors that determine the decision.
Our hospital has devices such as intraoral cameras, dental volumetric tomography and panoramic films with up-to-date technology that allow modern dentistry practices. With a patient-oriented preventive medicine approach, the entire oral health process from infancy to adulthood is followed by our specialists.
In-mouth Camera
In addition to visual-tactile examinations and radiographs, the use of intraoral cameras in early caries diagnosis enables the visualization of small changes in tooth hard tissues, obtaining more reliable data, reducing the subjectivity of the diagnosis and obtaining more objective results; thus preventing unnecessary restorations in dentistry with preventive and stopping measures.
Dental Volumetric Tomography
Panoramic radiographs are the most commonly used radiography technique in dentistry today. However, in cases where 3-dimensional examinations are required, 2-dimensional panoramic radiographs are insufficient. Dental tomography is used to visualize the maxillofacial region in three dimensions. It is an advanced examination. It is used for many purposes such as implant planning, detection of maxillofacial cysts and tumors, location of impacted teeth. With the dental tomography image, bone and soft tissue details that cannot be detected in normal X-rays can be seen. The dental tomography device allows the targeted area to be visualized from the desired angle and from all directions. These high-detail sections are a guide in all kinds of treatment. In our hospital, images with high detail and measurement accuracy can be obtained from the head and neck region with the MYRAY Hyperion X9 Pro dental tomography device.
Panoramic Film
Panoramic radiography is a technique that provides a single image of the upper and lower jaw with teeth and adjacent anatomical structures and pathologies. The low radiation dose is one of its biggest advantages. It is useful for the physician in the detection of jaw fractures, the position of wisdom teeth, large lesions and bone diseases, and remaining root fragments. It is frequently used as the first evaluation image. MYRAY Hyperion X5 brand panoramic radiography device is used in our hospital.
Central Sterilization Unit
It is a special unit where the instruments used in clinics are washed, cleaned, packaged, barcoded and sterilized. The instruments kept in special solution in special instrument containers in the clinics are collected by MSU (Central Sterilization Unit), washed in special washing machines and sterilized in devices called autoclaves and made ready for reuse. All instruments used in our hospital are recorded and monitored. In our institution, which attaches great importance to patient and employee safety, sterilization processes are meticulously managed.
Digital Programs
Painless and aesthetic treatments can be provided to patients using state-of-the-art scanning and engraving devices called CAD/CAM. Thanks to digital dentistry, dental crowding of patients with appropriate indications can be treated without the need for brackets and wires. Intraoral scans are performed with a camera and personalized transparent aligners provide a comfortable orthodontic treatment without affecting the aesthetic appearance of the person.
Methods such as personalized smile design, leaf porcelain (porcelain lamina), full ceramic veneers constitute the main working area of CAD/CAM systems. Since using digital impression technology in such aesthetic applications contributes to gum health in the long term, the aesthetic result will be much longer lasting.
After a scan performed while no intervention has been made to the teeth, a smile design is made digitally and planned by the patient and the physician, taking into account the patient's facial form, aesthetic criteria and the expectations of the patient, before the treatment has even started and how it will look when it is finished. At this stage, detailed photographs and video images are utilized. The treatment process begins in accordance with the plan and the person is quickly restored to a new smile.
